This was a strange plane that is used in what's called Controlled flight. It is attached to a string, a heavy heavy string, and flies around a central location.... It was moving like a rocket....
Here are some of the more interesting planes that were used in the controlled flight area. This one looks like it's just out of a sign.

This is a hanger where Whitman designed and built many planes. He is like one of the first, if not the first, person to start homebuilding airplanes. The red one in the corner was the first one that the FAA ok'd to fly with passengers. It was a beautiful hanger.
Jace in front of a Waco... i think, but the best part is that he was just lifting his arms like a muscle man.... The camera likes to think before it shoots, so I missed it. The photo still turned out ok since he's got a great smile. :-p
Took this one for mom... It's hard to see the scope of it, but there are literally hundreds and hundreds of bikes in this "field" next to the entrance to AirVenture. There are small wood fences set up to mount the bikes against and there is rarely an empty spot. Today we had to lock them together leaning against each other.
Ok, now this is definitely a Waco. Jace liked the plane and took a lot of pics. I'll load one more to show the interior. I asked to step into this one. :)
Then he got his turn, reluctantly.
